If you have a student currently attending CJCP and are interested in enrolling your other child(ren), an online application must be submitted for each sibling in a timely manner.

One application per student is allowed. If multiple applications are submitted on behalf of a student, the student will be given the least favorable space based on the lottery results. Following the submission of the online application, you will receive an email from us with a confirmation number. If you do not receive it within one day after the submission, please check your junk emails. If you have not received it at all, please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Any false information provided on the application form may disqualify the application and result in dismissal of the student from the school.

  1. Lottery Process

The lottery will be held on March 14 & March 19, 2019 at the CJCP auditorium. It is open to the public and all parents/students are welcome to attend. All applications received by the deadline will be included in the lottery except siblings of current CJCP students since they receive admission preference for available slots.

All winners and wait listed applicants will be notified via email immediately following the lottery to the email address provided to CJCP at the time of application.

Applicants who are not selected to enroll through the lottery will be automatically placed on the waiting list in the order determined by lottery.

Lottery winners will receive an invitation via e-mail indicating the specific paperwork necessary to complete the registration process.  The parent or the legal guardian is required to come to the school and complete the registration process in person during the enrollment period (March 25 – April 18, 2019).

  1. Weighted Lottery Information
  1. Kindergarten Cut-off Dates:
  • Franklin - October 31st
  • New Brunswick - October 15th
  • North Brunswick - October 1st

Weighted Lottery Identification

If approved, Central Jersey College Prep will utilize the following mechanisms to identify educationally-disadvantaged students and increase their chances to be selected in the school’s March 2019 lottery. Families who can provide evidence that their children are economically disadvantaged by Central Jersey College Prep’s March 1, 2019 application deadline, will receive three chances to earn a seat at the school compared to non-economically disadvantaged students who will only receive one chance in the lottery.

Economically-Disadvantaged Students

Any family who can provide evidence of ONE of the following criteria would have its child placed into the lottery three times rather than once.

  1. The student lives in Franklin, North Brunswick or New Brunswick public housing.
  2. The student lives in Franklin, North Brunswick or New Brunswick Section 8 housing.
  3. The student or guardian qualifies for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits.
  4. The student already qualifies for a free or reduced-price lunch in his or her current public school.

 English Language Learners

Central Jersey College Prep will use a weighted lottery for English Language Learners (ELLs). ELL refers to students with varying degrees of English language proficiency in any one of the domains of speaking, reading, writing, or listening, and is synonymous with limited ability in speaking English as used in N.J.S.A. 18A:35-15 to 26. Any family whose student(s) meet the criteria in any of the definitions in (1), (2), or (3) would have its child placed into the lottery three times rather than once.

  1. The student's native language is not English: One of the following definitions must be met:
    • The student is not born in the United States, or their native language is a language other than English
    • Native American / Native Alaskan: The child
      • is a Native American or Alaska Native, or a native resident of the outlying areas, and
      • comes from an environment where a language other than English has had a significant impact on the individual's level of English language proficiency
    • The student is migratory, whose native language is a language other than English, and who comes from an environment where a language other than English is dominant
  2. The student has difficulty in speaking, reading, writing, or understanding English: All of the following definitions must be met:
    • The student learned a language other than English when he/she first began to speak
    • The student speaks a language other than English at home most of the time
    • The student speaks a language other than English to his/her friends most of the time
  3. The student is currently enrolled in an ESL Program: Provide evidence of ONE of the following:
    • ACCESS test scores or any other language proficiency test scores
    • Parent notification letter about participation in an ESL or bilingual program
    • Report cards and/or progress reports indicating ESL
