Graduation Requirements

Grading

Your grade is a reflection of your efforts in the areas of classroom participation, homework completion, and performance on tests, quizzes, exams, and projects. The grade represents the knowledge you acquired for the subject matter. You should always maintain high standards and challenge yourself to acquire new skills and competencies. You are held accountable to adhering to the high standards and expectations for honesty and integrity in your work. Cheating, lying, stealing, plagiarizing, or engaging in any inappropriate behavior is not tolerated.

Principal’s List & Honor Roll

The principal’s list and honor roll serve as a mark of excellence to recognize students who excel academically. The principal’s list and honor roll are prepared at the end of each marking period. They are based on letter grades and include all subjects.

To qualify for the principal’s list a student shall have all A’s. To qualify for the honor roll a student shall have all A’s and B’s.
Homework Policy

Homework is an essential part of your successful educational program at CJCPCS. Doing homework will help you develop many valuable skills such as good study habits, time management, responsibility, and perseverance. Teachers will assign homework that will foster individual learning and growth and that is appropriate for the subject area.
Homework is part of all students’ regular evaluations. It is your responsibility to complete and turn in homework on time. If you or your parents have questions about homework, immediately contact the teacher who assigned it.

Course/Grade Repeat Policy

Course/Grade Repeat Policy at Central Jersey College Prep Charter School will be implemented using the following guidelines:

Students who FAIL a CORE COURSE in English, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies at:

Middle School, Grades 6-8:

  • Students MUST take a proficiency exam administered on the last week of August.
  • The grade at the end of the year for any Failed Course and the Proficiency Exam score will be averaged together for a final grade.
  • If this grade is below 65%, students will have failed the course and will retain in same need to repeat the upcoming school year.

High School, Grades 9-12:

  • Students MUST take a proficiency exam administered on the last week of August.
  • The grade at the end of the year for any Failed Course and the Proficiency Exam score will be averaged together for a final grade.
  • If this grade is below 65%, students will have failed the course and will need to retake it.

Although CJCPCS highly recommends students enroll in summer school for any failed course, students MUST REPEAT the failed course in the upcoming school year in order to receive credit toward their graduation requirements at CJCPCS.

Again, summer courses will NOT be counted as a passing grade for the course.

Passing            Final grade + Proficiency Exam = 65%

Failing             Final Grade + Proficiency Exam= 64% or below

Please note if students fail a course, students’ EXACT NUMERICAL GRADE will be used to calculate the above averages. For example, students who receive a 30% for the end of the year grade will need a 100% on the Proficiency Exam to get a combined average of 65% or a passing grade for the course.
