Central Jersey College Prep (CJCP) is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades K–12 in Somerset County.

Step 1

Application

Applications for the upcoming academic year open in mid-October each year. Deadline is the first Sunday of the March. An admission lottery is held if we receive more applications than the seats available.

Lottery

CJCP conducts one principal application deadline and enrollment lottery each year after January 1st and before March 15th, for the upcoming school year, publicizing the date, time, and location with reasonable notice at least one week before the lottery date. (603 CMR 1.05(3)(c )

Enrollment / Registration

Enrollment is granted to students through a random lottery. Lottery winners are notified to complete the registration process by the deadline set by the school, which is March 21, 2025, for the school year 2025-26.

Waiting List

If no seat is available, the applications are added to the end of the waiting list in the order received.

Additional Documents

  • Student's birth certificate

  • Immunization records

  • Parent/Guardian's photo ID/license (both parents if applicable)

  • Custody Documentation (If applicable)

  • Residency Documentation:

  • One (1) copy of a deed, lease, or affidavit (a notarized affidavit from the landlord)

  • Two (2) of the following documents that show your current address dated within the past 30 days: Gas, electric, cable, phone or water bill, Payroll check/stub, First class mail/letter from state or federal agency, Bank statement, Tax Bill.

  • Transfer card (due July 31, 2025)

Application Process

Applications submitted for years prior to the 2025-26 school year are not carried over to the 2025-26 school year. Therefore, you must reapply for the 2025-26 school year if your child(ren) has not been previously admitted to CJCP. No application is needed for current CJCP students who are returning next year.

If you have a student currently attending CJCP and are interested in enrolling your other child(ren), an online application must be submitted for each sibling in a timely manner. If you submit an application for a sibling of a student currently enrolled at CJCP, preference may be granted to a limited extent based on available seats in each grade level. Parents should not assume automatic admission to the school through sibling preference. Further information about the process will be communicated to our parents before the admission lottery.

One application per student is allowed. If multiple applications are submitted on behalf of a student, the student will be given the least favorable space based on the lottery results. Therefore, please contact us at admission@cjcollegeprep.org if you need to make a change in the application you submitted rather than submitting another application.

Following the submission of the online application, you will receive an email from us with a confirmation number. If you do not receive it within one day after the submission, please check your junk emails. If you have not received it at all, please contact us at admission@cjcollegeprep.org to verify the proper submission of your application prior to February 15, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will be added to the waiting list in the order they are received.
Any false information provided on the application form may disqualify the application and result in dismissal of the student from the school.
